About our staff
Four veterinarians, with patient care coordinators, veterinary assistants and certified veterinary technicians.

We all work to make your pet’s visit as stress-free as possible. Everyone takes part in ongoing education and has their own areas of expertise. Our surgical team has completed RECOVER CPR training, and most of our staff are trained in low-stress handling.

Dr. Justin Vaughn
Owner and veterinarian
Dr. Justin Vaughn joined ACGS in 2014. Originally from Grants Pass, Oregon, he moved to Hamilton, Montana as a teenager. He earned a bachelor’s degree in Molecular Biology and Biochemistry from the University of Idaho in 1999 and his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Colorado State University in 2003.
After three years in a mixed animal practice on the Oregon Coast, he followed his interest in emergency medicine to a position as an emergency veterinarian here in Corvallis. After six years he missed the bond a general practitioner forms with clients and their pets, and returned to day practice. In spring 2019 the clinic’s founder, Dr. Sabra Thomas, asked him to take over on her retirement; he has been the proud owner since June 1, 2019.
He is a member of the Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care Society, the AVMA and the OVMA. His professional interests include emergency medicine, critical care, soft tissue surgery and geriatric medicine. Away from work: fishing, SCUBA diving, cooking, gardening, and time with his wife Cassie, daughter Piper, son Logan, two dogs, Picket and Theo, and his cat, Kitten Kat.

After 14 years at a small animal clinic in Salem, she is excited to be working in Corvallis.
